Vauxhall Club FinalLast week it was the Vintage Bentleys from England, This week the Vauxhalls and Vintage MGs.  The Southern Scenic Route is helping to build business for many local tour operators between TeAnau and Balclutha!
The Whistling Frog Cafe, the Catlins newest Coffee Drop-In hotspot, was host to the 60 or so International Vintage Vauxhall Club members over the weekend.
The one in the foreground is a 1925 Vintage Vauxhaull 30-98 from Melbourne, driven by owner, Peter Coburn and his navigator Hugh Wallace. Mr Coburn spent around $5500 to bring the car in to NZ and many others were from UK and two were from Argentina.
They said that the Catlins is becoming a 'must see' because the roads are 'superb' for this kind of touring and the scenery is so unique.
The group said that the South Island was gaining the reputation as being one of the last great Auto Touring Destinations in the world.  So thought that many more groups would be heading to the Catlins in the near future.  British Auto Magazines are full of stories about the great experiences to be had in this part of the world, according to Alistair MCIntosh of Invercargill, the events organizer.
